Labor Female Leaders: The Legacy » Kristine Keaneally

ALP Premier NSW Wrecking Ball

The Keneally Labor government managed to gain Labor a massive loss; a swing of over 16 per cent—the largest in a general election at any level in Australia since World War II . This was only bettered by the following Bligh Labor government in Queensland. Leneally managed to even lose in Labor’s western Sydney heartland, some with swings of over 20 percent. Labor was cut down to 20 seats, its worst showing in over a century and one of the worst defeats a sitting state government in Australia has ever suffered. Many of the survivors saw their majorities more than halved; Keneally’s own majority reduced to 7.1 percent.
